LAUNCHING OF THE KISUMU CAMPUS 2ND OPEN WEEK

Kisumu Campus officially launched the 2nd Open Week at the Campus Complex along Oginga Odinga Street, Kisumu. The theme of the Open Week is “Advancing the Frontiers of Knowledge in the Lake Region and Beyond”. The event is expected to run up to 20th May, 2017, when there will be a grand closure. While presiding over the official launch of the event on 13th May, 2017, the CESSP Director, Prof. Julius Ogeng’o welcomed all the invited guests and participants and underscored the “worldclassness” status of the University of Nairobi. He highlighted the replication of such status at the Kisumu Campus and extended an invite to prospective students to choose the University of Nairobi, Kisumu Campus as a preferred place to pursue their studies. He heralded the commitment of the University to provide quality university education that addresses the unique socio-economic and political issues in the Lake Region. In his conclusion, he beseeched the high school students in attendance to work hard to obtain grades that qualify them for admission to the university to pursue their dream careers.

 

In his speech, Dr. Vincent Machuki, the Campus Director welcomed participants and introduced Kisumu Campus Management and their role towards achieving the world class education within the Lake Region and beyond. He briefed guests and participants on the theme of the open week and reiterated the benefits of attending such event. He described the scheduled activities of the week and asked all participants to sample what is on over at the campus.

A variety of activities such as but not limited to career talks, blood donation, counseling, panelists’ discussion on pertinent issues in education sector, Q&A competitions have been aligned within the open week. Various organizations in public and private sector, the general public, schools as well as NGO's have been invited to participate in the event and show-case their products and services.

Schools present such as Ahero Girls, Kisumu Day High School and Xaverian High School offered various entertainment items to the participants
