The University of Nairobi Kisumu Campus held its first staff assembly and luncheon on Saturday, January 21, 2017. The Assembly began at 12.00 and ended at 4.00p.m.
The function began with self-introductions. This was followed by remarks from the representatives of the School of Business, School of Law, the Department of Education Studies, the Campus Director and the Director Centre for Self-Sponsored Programmes (CESSP).
In his remarks, the Director, CESSP, encouraged members of staff to maintain the same spirit and team work demonstrated during the preparations for the Commission for University Education (CUE) technical inspection. He further stated that there were areas of activity that needed to be addressed by the Campus. These included:
After these remarks, members of staff had the opportunity to ask questions and make comments. These emphasized the importance of such forums, of giving adequate notice and working as a team. It was emphasized that serving our customers and working in a collegiate manner all-round would improve the image, service delivery and, ultimately, student numbers.
After the Assembly, members of staff attended a sumptuous lunch at the Campus Cafeteria, during which lively discussions continued. There were suggestions for more of such fora (among staff, amongst students and between staff and students). Members of staff left at their pleasure.
