On March 3rd, 2017, Kisumu Campus hosted the African Institute for Research and Development Studies (AIRADS) 2017 Cultural Day in the Campus Auditorium. Over 200 students of AIRADS attended the event. The students of AIRDS presented a variety of cultural pieces, including, music and dancing, dramatic skits, and a fashion show. In his speech, Dr. Vincent Machuki, the Director of Kisumu Campus and the Chief Guest, explained genesis and extent of the collaboration between the Campus and the AIRADS in terms of exchange programmes. He thanked the AIRADS Principal, Mrs. Olgah Otichro, for the collaboration and assured the institution that more collaborative events would be organized in the future. The Campus issued programme brochures and addressed enquiries at a desk set up at the entrance of the Auditorium.

Kisumu Campus participated in the Lake Basin Expo and Investment Summit organized by the Chamber of Commerce, AREMANT Group and Kenya Vision 2030 at the Kenyatta Sports Ground from February12 to 16, 2017. The event targeted exhibitors from Africa, Asia, the US and Europe and attracted over 5,000 trade visitors from across the region. The University of Nairobi used the event to interact with the large population through exhibition and ICT application platform tents, and participation in the specialist panels to market its programmes and improve its outreach in the region.

Coordinator School of Continuing and Distance education, Dr. Raphael Nyonje attending the Fourth Annual Educational Research and Evaluation international Conference.
Theme: Provision of Quality Education and Training: Prospect and Challenges

 

Dr. Raphael O. Nyonje, the Coordinator, School of Continuing and Distance Education (SCDE) undertook a mentorship exercise by supporting Kisumu Campus Masters and PhD students in paper presentation during the Fourth Annual Educational Research and Evaluation International Conference held from March 8-10, 2017 at Kisumu Hotel. The Conference, whose theme was Provision of Quality Education and Training: Prospects and Challenges, was hosted by the Society of Educational Research and Evaluation in Kenya in collaboration with Maseno University and the.

 

The Chief Guest, Prof. Julius O. Nyabundi, Vice Chancellor, Maseno University, officially opened the conference. In his speech, he highlighted the elements, and the challenges faced in the provision, of quality education.

 

Dr. Nyonje presented a paper titled Non-Academic Exposure and Entrepreneurial Initiatives of African Institute of Research and Development Studies Students at Kisumu Campus.
