Dr. Raphael O. Nyonje, the Coordinator, School of Continuing and Distance Education (SCDE) undertook a mentorship exercise by supporting Kisumu Campus Masters and PhD students in paper presentation during the Fourth Annual Educational Research and Evaluation International Conference held from March 8-10, 2017 at Kisumu Hotel. The Conference, whose theme was Provision of Quality Education and Training: Prospects and Challenges, was hosted by the Society of Educational Research and Evaluation in Kenya in collaboration with Maseno University and the.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Julius O. Nyabundi, Vice Chancellor, Maseno University, officially opened the conference. In his speech, he highlighted the elements, and the challenges faced in the provision, of quality education.
Dr. Nyonje presented a paper titled Non-Academic Exposure and Entrepreneurial Initiatives of African Institute of Research and Development Studies Students at Kisumu Campus.
On February 20, 2017, a group of students from St. Anne's Kisoko Girls Secondary School paid a visit to University of Nairobi, Kisumu Campus to get a feel of the University environment. The students were given a full tour of the University facilities and various Schools/Departments, where they listened to career/mentorship presentations by the school/faculty coordinators. Representing the Director, Kisumu Campus, Dr. Raphael O. Nyonje, gave a brief on the University of Nairobi, Kisumu Campus and stated that students need exposure to institutions of higher learning, especial the various courses available and the minimum admission requirements.
