The Council of Legal Education (CLE), through its Quality Assurance, Compliance and Accreditation (QCA) Department, conducted a pre-inspection audit of the University of Nairobi (UoN) School of Law, Kisumu Campus, on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. The CLE team was led by the Director, QCA, Ms Mary Mutugi. Other members of the team were Mr. Moses Mwaura and Ms Georgina Wabwire.

The audit began with presentations on the School of Law by the Associate Dean and the heads of support units (Finance, ICT and Library). These presentations provided a status report on various aspects of the School, including governance and management, strategic planning, financial commitment and projections, research, curriculum and curriculum development, the LLB degree programme (niche, admission requirements, student enrolment and completion rates, modes of delivery, use of ICT, integration of research and examinations processes), staffing, staff qualifications and research, and staff-student ratios, library and information resources and services, and infrastructure. Discussions then ensued in which CLE sought clarification on a number of areas.

The University of Nairobi (UoN) School of Law (Kisumu Campus) will, in partnership with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) (West Kenya Branch) and the East African Law Society (EALS), host a Continuing Professional Development Seminar on Leadership on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 2.00 p.m. The Seminar will be held in the Kisumu Campus Complex Auditorium and will be attended by renowned jurists, advocates, academics, students and invited members of the public.

The school of business kisumu campus conducted a one day consultative forum on 22nd November 2017. The forum brought together all the academic staff from the SOB –Kisumu campus. The team was taken through the discussion by various facilitators from the school (Alex Jaleha, Dr. Vincent Machuki, Dr. Luther Otieno, Dr. Mercy Flora, Dr. Nixon Omoro, Gerald Ondiek and Joab Ooko). The issues discussed were on quality supervision for the post graduate students at the campus.
