Compliance Audit by the Council of Legal Education (CLE)

As part of its statutory oversight role, the Council of Legal Education (CLE) undertook a compliance audit of the Faculty of Law – Kisumu Campus on 17 July 2026 following the lapse of the institution's Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) training licence. The exercise sought to evaluate the Faculty's adherence to the regulatory and quality assurance standards governing legal education in Kenya.

The inspection was led by the Council's Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Jack Mwimali, and the Director of Standards, Licensing, Supervision and Compliance, Ms. Annah Konuche, accompanied by officers from the Directorate of Standards, Licensing, Supervision and Compliance. The Faculty was represented by the Dean, Prof. Winifred Kamau; the Associate Dean, Kisumu Campus, Prof. Charles Rambo; the Faculty Coordinator, Dr. Paul Ogendi; Dr. Naomi Njuguna; Ms. Linda Aduda; Mr. Jackson Bett; Mr. Michael Okelloh; Ms. Caroline Shilaho; Mr. Ronald Rogo;Dr.Isaac Abuya Coordinator project planning and management ; Mr. Peter Pete; together with other members of the Faculty's leadership, academic, and non-academic staff.

During the audit, the Council reviewed the Faculty's compliance with the standards required for the delivery of the LL.B programme. The assessment covered key areas such as student admissions, preparedness for the implementation of Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET), curriculum delivery, adequacy of teaching staff, physical infrastructure, library and learning resources, and the institution's overall compliance with the regulatory framework established by the Council of Legal Education.
