The Vice Chancellor, University of Nairobi, Prof. Peter Mbithi Visits Kisumu Campus

On 7th April, 2018, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi visited Kisumu Campus. The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by the DVC Student Affairs and Ag. DVC A&F - Prof. Isaac Mbeche, Principal CHSS - Prof. Enos Njeru, Deputy Director ODeL-Prof. Harriet Kidombo, CESSP Director- Prof. Julius Ogeng’o, among others. Led by the Director Kisumu Campus-Dr. Vincent Machuki, the Vice Chancellor and his team inspected the Campus facilities. The Vice Chancellor was pleased with the status of the facilities and applauded the Director and the Campus Management team for their commitment to maintain the high standards at the Campus.

During the Visit, the Vice Chancellor held meetings with the Campus Management, all staff and students where he delivered inspirational pointer of the University’s strategic direction, had one on one interaction with staff and students. The Vice Chancellor responded to concerns raised by both staff and students and provide a way forward on the solutions to challenges experienced at the Campus and promised to continue supporting the Campus to ensure the standards are raised even higher for the Campus to be a true reflection of a world class university in the Lake region and beyond.

The Vice Chancellor’s visit culminated with the launching of the Campus Bus and Van led by the Transport and Garage Coordinator Prof. Julius Ogola. The vehicles were procured to serve transport needs by both students and staff. During the launch, The DVC Student affairs observed that the Bus provides a solution to a long term problem that has always been faced by the students. He therefore instructed that the Bus should be used to transport students every evening to the play ground. In his launch remark, the Vice Chancellor applauded the efforts of the DVC (SA) and Ag. (A&F) to purchase the two vehicles and indicated that it epitomized the University Top Management’s resolve to support satellite campuses in all ways. He urged the Campus management to ensure that the vehicles are put into good use for the advancement of quality service delivery to students.
