MoU with Linkoping University, Sweden

On 13th of February 2013, The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies participated in the signing ceremony of the MoU between Linkoping University, Sweden and the University of Nairobi, noting the active role the department played in the ground work that culminated to the signing ceremony. Between 14th and 16th February, 2013, the department organized the first activity of the MoU.

UoN VC and Chairman DoGES visit Yokohama National University, Japan

On 12 October 2011, the Vice Chancellor (Prof. Magoha) and the Chairman of Department (Dr. Owuor) were invited to Yokohama National University as a way of strengthening and expanding collaboration between the two institutions. They were hosted by the President of Yokohama National University (Prof. Kunio Suzuki) and staff from International Graduate School of Social Sciences. DoGES postgrads complete an exchange programme to Jyvaskyla University, Finland

Students from the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies have benefited from a one-semester exchange programme to the University of Jyvaskyla. The North-South-South exchange program is a beautiful experience for any student. Finland is a Nordic country with a small population of 5.4million people as compared to Kenya’s population of 42 million. The one semester away provided an opportunity to sample a different education system, and different culture and different climate which allowed us to grow in many ways.
